You should keep your eyes clean. Cleanliness is important to maintain good health. Germs very easily make their entrance to your eyes if your hands are not clean and you tend to wipe your eyes with them. This is very common with children. Eye infections can be prevented by your cleanliness.
Food and health go hand in hand. You should take a lot of vegetables and fruits as part of your food. This will ensure that you get the right nutrients for your eyes. Vitamin A and E are very important for your eyes.
Vitamin A deficiency causes severe eye problems and this deficiency may lead to night blindness. If you have sufficient intake of Vitamin A, it would help prevent eye dryness. Vitamin E helps to maintain healthy blood vessels. Vitamin C prevents the breakage of blood vessels and helps in the growth of new ones. Zinc helps the liver to release vitamin A which is very important to your eyes. Fish oil is very good for your eyes. It provides Vitamin A and Vitamin D which helps the eyes to produce protein pigments. Apart from this Magnesium helps in the flow
Thus we see a lot of nutrients support the eyes to stay healthy. You can get all nutrients as part of the food that you intake. You should take a lot of fresh vegetables which carry a number of these nutrients.
If you have a refractive problem, then you should wear the prescribed glasses which will reduce the strain on your eyes. If you are wearing contact lens then you should all the instructions carefully to see that no infection enters your eyes through these lenses. If you have cataract or have undergone surgery for cataract then you should follow your doctor's advice very seriously. For those who haven't undergone surgery it is advisable that you see your doctor immediately and fix for a surgery to remove the cataract. It is always better to remove it at the starting stage. You could wear sunglasses to protect your eyes when to go outside which will also prevent your eyes from pollution.
Elderly people face with a problem called glaucoma. This is a disease that gradually damages your eyes that you ultimately lose them. This is because it causes damage to the optic nerve which is responsible for vision. This occurs mainly for people who are above 60 years.
It is advisable to do regular medical checkup of your eyes especially if you are above 6 years of age.
People with diabetes very easily get their eyes damaged. These diabetic patients have to take extra care of their eyes.
