A healthy blood pressure level in adults is just as important as normal blood pressure levels in children. However, unlike adults, the blood pressure range in children changes as they age. As such, two kids with the same blood pressure readings doesn't mean that they both have normal blood pressure levels. Since high blood pressure in children can just be as painful and fatal as those suffered by adults are, you need to learn how to keep your children safe from suffering this condition.

Like adults, children who suffer from high blood pressure usually don't develop symptoms of hypertension, making it known as the 'silent killer'. Because of this, high blood pressure in children is serious and most likely would continue until adulthood if parents don't keep their kids' blood pressure in check. If left untreated, high blood pressure may lead to some changes in the children's tissues and organs, which may cause devastating health problems later in life.

Although most children
experience one instance of high blood pressure and never experience it again in their childhood, some kids would continue to have hypertension repeatedly. As such, it is important that parents pay attention to their children's blood pressure, particularly because most kids under the age of 15 who suffer from hypertension is caused by another health condition or disease that required medical attention. About 25% of kids over 15 years old with high blood pressure suffer from other diseases, which are usually curable and treatable if detected early.

According to the American Heart Association, blood pressure screenings in children should start at three years old to help doctors determine the health risks of a child and treat possible conditions or diseases before they progress. Be aware that the sooner a child starts to experience high blood pressure, the more health effects he or she may develop. As such, it is important to have your kid's blood pressure checked at least once a year to save him or her from the pain associated with high blood pressure.
