Like adults, children who suffer from high blood pressure usually don't develop symptoms of hypertension, making it known as the 'silent killer'. Because of this, high blood pressure in children is serious and most likely would continue until adulthood if parents don't keep their kids' blood pressure in check. If left untreated, high blood pressure may lead to some changes in the children's tissues and organs, which may cause devastating health problems later in life.

According to the American Heart Association, blood pressure screenings in children should start at three years old to help doctors determine the health risks of a child and treat possible conditions or diseases before they progress. Be aware that the sooner a child starts to experience high blood pressure, the more health effects he or she may develop. As such, it is important to have your kid's blood pressure checked at least once a year to save him or her from the pain associated with high blood pressure.
