Hytrin : Terazosin

Hytrin uses: Terazosin/Hytrin relaxes and opens blood vessels. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). In males, it is used for symptoms of prostate enlargement such as urinary hesitancy and/or urgency.
How to use Hytrin: Take this medication exactly as prescribed. Try to take it at the same time each day. Take the first dose at bedtime to minimize the chances of getting dizzy or fainting. Capsules may be taken with food or milk to avoid stomach upset. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the drug is abruptly stopped. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased.
Hytrin Side Effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, constipation, loss of appetite, fatigue, nasal congestion or dry eyes may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: chest pain, swelling of the hands or feet, ringing in the ears. Males - though it is unlikely to occur, if you get a painful, prolonged erection, stop using this drug and seek immediate medical attention. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these highly unlikely but serious side effects:
Hytrin precautions: Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease. To avoid dizziness or fainting, get up slowly from a lying or seated position; especially when you first start using this drug or if your doctor changes your dosing. Limit your intake of alcohol and avoid getting overheated because they may increase the dizziness and drowsiness effects of this drug. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding.
Hytrin interactions: Inform your doctor about all the medicines you use (both prescription and nonprescription). Avoid any drugs that increase your heart rate or make you excited like decongestants because it may counteract your blood pressure medicine. Decongestants are commonly found in over-the-counter cough and cold products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Hytrin overdose: If Hytrin overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness and weakness.
Hytrin notes: It is important to have your blood pressure checked regularly while taking this medication. Learn how to monitor your blood pressure. Discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist.
If missed dose: If you have missed dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose!. Contact your doctor if two+ or more consecutive doses are missed.

I think what this drug can cause my hair thining out. Also when the presure falls suddensly you can feel very weak and/or in your legs.

I started from 1mg still at 1mg. have many symptoms of urine stream stoppage went away within days of first dosage. No relapse of symptoms.

I not have side effects, I very satisfied with this Hytrin. Does not cure problem, but sure makes it much more tolerable and avoids the need for surgery.

It has worked for me - from 3-4 "trips" every night to only one and sometimes none! It has lost some effectiveness over time but now also using avodart as well. I have good results with it!

If you get high dosage - it can bring weakness, lethargic, shoulder pain when you riding the bike. Also I feel very tired after exercising. But this drug has helped me.

It definately helps my urine to flow. If I miss some dose, I can tell the difference easily!

Initial dizziness, but nothing. Very effective drug for me!

At start i has posturial dizziness. Seems after a 3 weeks atrophy gradually back to slow (incomplete) voiding again and agan. Conclusion? Not-so-good with, but worse without!
