I got intense burning sensation over arms and shoulder, head, joint aches, optic neuritis! I drink this avapro near 1 year, and was homebound due to effects.

Avapro caused rapid pulse after my first 150 mg dose.
My blood pressure went to 211/103 and stayed there. I didn't realize it was this drug causing this and kept taking it. Went to E.R. where dr. did nothing but tell me to call my own doctor for an appoitment after weekend. Have since seen this heart doctor...he changed my pills and has now detected a heart murmur (didn't have this before!) and now I have to have a nuclear stress test. I've only been off the this drug for five days now (after only taking it for 10days), my pulse is still very very fast, I'm still breathless and quite scared about what drug has done to my heart! Now I shake all the time too and I never did that before either! |

You sound like your having anxiety as well Robert. The drug wouldn't have damaged your heart.Obviously you need to keep in touch with your medicos who will have to go back to the drawing board.Try and relax and find out if your heart is in sinus Rythm, then things like Beta Blockers or Calcium Channel Blockers may be the go.I also would not be surprised if you were given something for anxiety .

Drug seems fine at begin - and at that time I was so panicked that I noticed nothing anyway - doctor said 141/95 was very high! so his started me on 150mg about 9 months ago.
Still on it although my readings are now around 113/61. mentioned all above side effects and was told - what this not the medication. Well then - what the heck is it!? I don't think I even need to be on this drug anymore - I've already lost some weight and also changed my diet and excersice often. Going for a "thyroid" blood test to rule that out. Have talked doctor into letting me take a half of pill instead of a full one - but its been 3 days ago and really it was no changes in symptoms. Tired of feeling this way!!! |

When husband was on this meds, he was tired all the time!
In terms of lack of concentration, well he doesn't have much to begin with, so it was hard to tell!! My dr's follow up is next week. We'll see what he says about the side effects. |

I was unable to function properly!!!
I was going to sleep at 10pm instead of my usual 12pm and after 10 hours of sleep I was still tired. My whole body was hurt and it made me very EXTREMELY paranoid and very depressed. My dr. did not know it could have this kind of reaction. |

I don't think what this medicine is for me.
Side effects (salty taste in mouth, joint pains and recently started having swelling in my hands, feets, face and also feel numbness and tingling in different parts of my body) are more than the expected good result. BP still remains at 141/91 with 150 mg per each day. |

I was on half of pill for 7 months and felt good. Last 2 times at dr. my pressure was 141/91.
He had me go back on a full pill of Avapro and now I feel very awful. I think i am going back on a half. I hate this feeling!! |

I have been on Metoprolol 100 mg x twice a day to prevent SVT.
I was placed on Karvea (Irbesatan) 150 mg.Mt BP went from 150/100 to an incredible 210/110.I was tested in the ER for a stroke.3 hours later I was released after blood tests mostly appeared OK.I was 156/100.I have returned a 140/80 and last week 130/80.The consultant said that they were concerned when the diastolic started to get to 110>thats the second reading. On exercise I am returning 170/80 so I don't know what to think really. Seem to have intermittent bluring and light headeness and yes i have Tennis Elbow and also the right knee is stiff /swollen so I am not ruling out the drug as a cause. I am having a test for Left Ventricular Heart Failure in about 17 days.I try to walk 30 minutes a day and I dont do coffee or alcohol or smoke ,My sister (14 months younger than me) did not have regular BP readings and had a stroke 18 months ago. She has been put on an ACE inhibitor and her response to Metoprolol was a blood Presure of 70/40 and they had to elevate her feet and discontinue thatn drug as obviously it worked too well. But back to the Ibersetan I was happy about the 120/80 the other day and your body does have to adapt to the drug and that takes a fortnight at least I am told. |

I take Avapro 300mg. After a change of lifestyle. had to reduce the dosage to 150 mg due to very low blood pressure level of 80 -100. Works fine for me so far.
