Low Blood Pressure - hypotension
Most people experience high blood pressure not knowing that they could also suffer from low blood pressure. When this happens, there is not enough blood flow to reach your organs, which could lead to organ damage when left untreated. The normal blood pressure level is around 120/80; if this value goes below 120/80, you are experiencing low blood pressure.

Low blood pressure is just as dangerous as high blood pressure. However, unlike hypertension that usually doesn't have uncomfortable symptoms, experiencing low blood pressure can be uncomfortable because most symptoms occur when they sit up or stand up from lying down or other quick movements. Symptoms of low blood pressure include dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness, chest pain, shock, heart attack and death.

Different things can cause low blood pressure and each person who suffers from it feels differently compared to another person with low blood pressure. Some common causes of low blood pressure include dehydration, bleeding and swelling of organs. The most common cause of low blood pressure in healthy people is dehydration; but it can easily be treated by rehydrating with plenty of water. When you suffer from bleeding, may it be mild or severe, your blood pressure would drop abruptly, affecting the heart's ability to push adequate amounts of blood through the body.

In people who have recently undergone internal surgery, swelling of the organs may occur, which could cause a significant drop of blood pressure because of the blood depletion on the blood vessels. Low blood pressure is very common in patients suffering from pancreatitis and other health problems where the internal organs end up inflamed.

Weakened heart muscles may also cause low blood pressure. If you experience any of the symptoms of low blood pressure, don't disregard them. Make sure to seek medical attention immediately to prevent it from leading to other life-threatening conditions.
